alwaysonguardThe weekend had been... interesting, to say the least. And the fallout from said weekend had been.. Well, not all that good really. He really shouldn't have expected anything different. Once again it just proved that a happily ever after was not in the cards for him.
Last night's binge at the bar with Summer was just one more bad choice to add to the list. Dwight sighed as he filled his coffee cup again, running a hand through his still wet hair. The long shower had helped some with the dull throbbing in his head, but he was still not feeling like doing much. Even the morning run had been cut short, much to Snoopy's displeasure.
"Sorry boy," he said to the pup who was looking at him oh so judgingly, tennis ball in his mouth, and a pitiful whimper to go with it. "I'll make it up to you later ok?"
It was then that Dwight noticed there was a missed call on his phone. Picking it up he frowned at the number shown on the screen. He didn't recognize it, but the area code was the same as the number his sister had given him a few weeks ago.
"Who would be calling me from Cleveland? And why?" he muttered as he picked up the phone and started listening to the message as he wandered over to the couch and sat down.

It wasn't long after that Dwight was very much not sitting around relaxing and moping. In fact, he was running around grabbing clothes and a few other things here and there and throwing them into his duffle bag. As he did, Dwight called out to Portal City and scheduled a portal out to Cleveland for as soon as possible.
Hanging up the phone, Dwight grabbed a few things for Snoopy and shoved them into a separate bag, pausing for a moment to give the pup a quick pat on the head.
"Sorry boy, change of plans. We're going on a little trip" he said grimly, his voice suddenly feeling tight as he spoke. Snoopy seemed to sense something was wrong as he licked Dwight's hand and gave a little whimper. "It'll be ok boy..." Dwight said, more to convince himself than the pup.
Pulling out his phone, he made a few other quick calls to Miguel, Summer, and finally to Amaya . Once that was done he did a final check of the apartment, and grabbed the bags and headed down to the shop to make sure everything down there was secure.
"It'll only be for a week or so, most likely boy," he said to the whimpering pup lagging along behind him. "We'll be back, I promise."
And so with a final glance around the shop, Dwight got Snoopy into his harness. Once outside, he locked up the shop, grabbed the few bags he packed, and headed off to the Portal City Office.
